Volunteers of America-Greater New York is seeking a Housing Specialist to join their team in Bronx, NY. The role involves assuring housing readiness of clients by implementing appropriate trainings and developing permanent housing options in both public and private sectors.
About the Role
As a Housing Specialist, you will conduct housing eligibility assessments, develop linkages with real estate companies and public housing offices, maintain listings of permanent affordable housing, and facilitate workshops for clients on acquiring and maintaining independent housing. You will also track placements and assist clients with housing applications.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree with two years of related experience in housing placement services for low-income and/or homeless population.
- Knowledge of federal guidelines for public and private low-income housing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Clean and valid NYS Driver's license.
Preferred:
- Related experience with domestic violence.
