Summary
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking an HPC Linux Systems Engineer to join their team in Oak Ridge, TN. The role involves improving the security, performance, and reliability of the NCCS computing environments, including support for the Frontier supercomputer.
About the Role
As an HPC Linux Systems Engineer, you will work within the HPC Scalable Systems Group to install, integrate, and administer HPC Linux clusters and high-speed networks. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing system operational problems, coordinating with vendors, recommending hardware and software changes, and documenting system administration procedures. You will also participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation and contribute to system performance analysis.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in a scientific or technical field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred:
- Experience managing Linux operating systems in a large-scale system environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain programs and scripts using shell and scripting languages (bash, Python, Go).
- Experience deploying and maintaining automated configuration management software such as Puppet.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team player.
- Proactive and solution-oriented problem solver.
