Summary
Shield Consulting Solutions, Inc. is seeking an HPC Software Engineer to join their team in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role involves developing and maintaining system management infrastructure software and services for High Performance Computing (HPC) systems in a Linux environment.
About the Role
As an HPC Software Engineer, you will be responsible for utilizing your expertise in software engineering to develop and maintain critical software solutions for HPC systems. Your daily tasks will include using the Linux CLI, scripting in Bash/Python, developing software in Python and Rust, and working with containerization technologies like Docker. You will also be involved in troubleshooting, debugging, and implementing CI/CD practices.
About You
Required:
- 7 years of experience as a software engineer.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or 2 additional years of experience as a software engineer may be substituted for a degree.
- Experience using the Linux CLI.
- Proficiency in scripting (Bash/Python) to automate tasks and processes.
- Experience developing software solutions using programming languages such as Python and Rust in a Linux environment.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, PodMan, containerd.
- Experience with automation frameworks including Ansible for orchestrating deployment.
- Experience performing troubleshooting and debugging issues in an operational system.
- Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as GitLab CI and Jenkins.
- Experience with Git Source Control System.
Preferred:
- Familiar with Datacenter Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools such as Netbox.
- Familiar with Observability and Analytics platform solutions such as Splunk.
- Familiar with Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions such as Keycloak.
- Familiar with Secret Management tools such as HashiCorp Vault.
- Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence).
- Familiar with Agile, Scrum, or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies.
