NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking an HVAC Mechanic I to join their team at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm in Tyrrell County, NC. The role involves performing preventive and routine maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
About the Role
As an HVAC Mechanic I, you will be responsible for maintaining heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment, installing new equipment, charging system refrigerants, replacing bearings, seals, and filters, lubricating as necessary, and adjusting and balancing the distribution system. You will also maintain electronic/pneumatic equipment, perform necessary testing, troubleshooting, and alignment repair of electrical/pneumatic systems, and carry out repair procedures independently. Additionally, you may train and/or supervise the work of offender helpers.
About You
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution, and control systems.
- Current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician.
Preferred:
- Documented knowledge of practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
