Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Systems Security Engineer (ONSITE) to join their team in Largo, FL. The role involves supporting programs for the US military and international customers, focusing on embedded cybersecurity.
About the Role
As a Senior Systems Security Engineer, you will support system certification and accreditation efforts, including NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NSA compliance. You will analyze system requirements, models, and diagrams to identify potential security vulnerabilities, participate in system design discussions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security considerations into system design. You will also participate in Security focused-System Verification and Validation, including writing test plans and procedures.
About You
Required:
Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and familiarity with NIST RMF and NIAP procedures.
Strong technical writing skills and ability to develop security documentation.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform deep dives into system requirements.
Ability to interpret system models, diagrams, and architectures to assess security risks.
Willingness to learn about satellite systems, communication systems, and evolving security technologies.
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred:
Experience with National Security Agency (NSA) cryptographic certification and Cross Domain Solution (CDS) requirements.
Experience with cybersecurity verification activities (including automated vulnerability scanning tools).
Familiarity with DOORS, JIRA, Cameo, or other system modeling tools.
Advanced Security-related certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, etc.) are a plus but not required.
Prior experience working with security protocols in embedded systems, aerospace, or communications is a plus.
Familiarity with DoD focused security assessment tools, e.g. SCC, NMAP, Evaluate-STIG, Nessus, ACAS, Vulnerator, eMASSster, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 3–5 years of equivalent experience in system security engineering from an ABET accredited or NCAE-C-designated institution.
Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
