O-I is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to join their team in Toano, VA. The role involves maintaining the operation of equipment and machines in the plant.
About the Role
As an Industrial Mechanic, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, erecting, dismantling, and assembling all types of plant machinery and electrical or electronic equipment. Your daily tasks will include inspecting glass forming machines, adjusting lines to maintain product flow, and maintaining cullet lines and conveyors. You will work on a rotating shift schedule.
About You
Required:
- High School degree or GED.
- Journeyman cardholder (Mechanical or Electrical) or 5 years of equivalent experience.
- Ability to pass a mechanical & electrical skills test.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Basic PC literacy (Word, email, basic data entry).
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of gearboxes, VFDs, and job change processes.
- Experience reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, shop handbooks, and layouts.
- Experience completing routine reports and correspondence.
- PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
