About the Role
As an Inpatient Coder 3, you will be responsible for reviewing electronic and scanned medical records, assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, abstracting data into the coding system, and ensuring adherence to coding guidelines and regulations. You will collaborate with coding leadership and clinical documentation staff to maintain coding accuracy and participate in training programs to stay updated on coding practices.
About You
Required:
- Minimum of an Associate degree in Health Information Management or completion of an AHIMA or AAPC Coding Certification program.
- RHIA, RHIT, or CCS from AHIMA or a CIC from AAPC.
- Minimum 3 years of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS inpatient coding experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong knowledge of current ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
Preferred:
- EHR experience.
- Experience with 3M-360 Computer Assisted Coding.
- Minimum 1 year of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS inpatient coding experience at a Level 1 trauma or Academic Medical Center.
