Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories is seeking an intern for the position of Internship - Heterogeneous multi-agent planning and control to collaborate in the development of decision making, planning, and control for teams of heterogeneous robots in Cambridge, MA.
About the Role
As an intern, you will work on planning and control for various types of robots, including aerial and ground robots, focusing on tasks such as inspection, monitoring, and infrastructure repair. The internship is expected to last 3-6 months during Spring/Summer 2026, with results aimed for publication in top-tier conferences and journals.
About You
Required:
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or related programs, with a focus on Robotics and/or Control Systems.
- Experience in formal methods and set-based methods, model predictive control, reinforcement learning for planning, cooperative planning and control for multi-agent systems, and programming in Python, Matlab, or Julia.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of physics simulators for robotics (e.g., MuJoco).
- Experience with coverage control and pursuit-evasion problems.
- Programming in C/C++ or Simulink code generation.
