Helix is seeking an IT Lab Systems Administrator to join their team in San Diego, CA. The role involves supporting the IT infrastructure of a DNA sequencing lab and contributing to cloud migration efforts.
About the Role
As an IT Lab Systems Administrator, you will serve as the primary point of contact for lab users, providing technical support for lab PCs, systems, and scientific instruments. You will manage incidents and alerts using Jira Service Desk and PagerDuty, monitor the health of the lab's infrastructure, and participate in IT and infrastructure projects, including cloud migrations to AWS. This role requires participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation and working from the San Diego site four days a week.
About You
Required:
5-7 years of experience in IT, directly supporting end-users and systems.
Outstanding customer service skills with a strong sense of ownership.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Foundational understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems, and networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Preferred:
Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
Familiarity with cloud migration processes.
Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
Experience with incident management platforms like Jira Service Desk and PagerDuty.
Experience working in a regulated, clinical, or laboratory environment.
