About the Role
As a Jewish Chaplain (Intermittent), you will be responsible for consulting with hospital staff regarding religious dietary requests, conducting Jewish religious ceremonies and services, providing spiritual counseling and visitation to patients, and performing administrative duties to ensure the safe provision of spiritual services. You will also work collaboratively with other chaplains and support the hospital's Relationship Security Program.
About You
Required:
- Eligibility by way of being reachable on a certification list, having transfer eligibility, or reinstatement eligibility.
- Ability to conduct religious ceremonies and provide spiritual counseling.
Preferred:
- Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of Jewish religious practices and traditions.

The Department of State Hospitals (DSH) manages the California state hospital system, which provides mental health services to patients admitted into DSH facilities. The department strives to provide effective treatment in a safe environment and in a fiscally responsible manner. DSH oversees five state hospitals throughout the State of California. Our facilities are Atascadero, Coalinga, Metropolitan (in Los Angeles County), Napa, and Patton. All five facilities are fully licensed by the California Department of Public Health, and must regularly meet or exceed regulatory standards to continue providing care.
