COUNTY OF CAYUGA is seeking a Junior Accountant (HELP Program) for an anticipated vacancy in Auburn, NY. The role involves assisting in the maintenance of governmental accounting records and performing entry-level accounting tasks.
About the Role
As a Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for coding and classifying receipts, maintaining cost accounts, preparing closing entries, verifying and reconciling bank accounts, and assisting with payroll and financial reporting. You will work under general supervision and may oversee clerical staff.
About You
Required:
Master's Degree in Accounting, Business, Public Administration, Economics or related field, or a Bachelor's degree with 18 semester hours in accounting, or an Associate's Degree in accounting with 2 years of experience, or high school diploma with 5 years of accounting experience.
Working knowledge of general accounting principles as they relate to governmental accounting.
Preferred:
Ability to adapt accounting methods to particular problems.
Experience in maintaining accounting records and preparing financial statements.
