About the Role
As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will design packaging for complex subsystems that include optical, photonic, optoelectronic, electrical, and mechanical elements. Your responsibilities will include producing build-to drawings, collaborating with vendors, supporting production transitions, optimizing circuit card layouts, and utilizing rapid prototyping techniques.
About You
Required:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering and 0-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
- Proficient use of computer-aided design and analysis software, with SolidWorks strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with CAD models for use in FEA software for thermal and structural analysis.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) methodologies.
- Experience with rapid prototyping (3D printing, laser cutting, etc) and/or machining.
- Strong hands-on skills, able to assemble hardware unsupervised in a lab setting.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred:
- Experience with complex subsystems containing optical, photonic, optoelectronic, electrical, and mechanical elements.
- Experience with gimbal systems or other precision motion control mechanisms.
- Experience in the design of hardware to military and space design standards.
- Experience in environmental testing to MIL-STD or equivalent industrial test levels.
- Experience in optical and electronic subassembly layout.
