About the Role
As a Junior Outside Machinist, you will be responsible for accomplishing mechanical repairs and testing onboard ships and in the shop. Your tasks will include the removal, repair, overhaul, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, modifying, and testing of various ship's mechanical systems and components, including hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, capstans, winches, and more. You will work under limited supervision and utilize technical documents to accomplish your work.
About You
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years work experience on Navy ships.
- Experience using standard mechanic's tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to disassemble, clean, inspect, and assess equipment parts.
- Ability to identify materials and parts requiring replacement.
Preferred:
- OHSA 10 certification.
- CPR certification.
- Fall protection training.
- Low speed vehicle training.
- Completion of PQS 301 Craftsman qualification.
- Forklift Certification.
