METECS is seeking a Junior Spacecraft Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer to join their team in Houston, TX. The role involves supporting human spaceflight programs at NASA's Johnson Space Center, including the development of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) subsystem Flight Software and integrated Flight Hardware.
About the Role
As a Junior Spacecraft Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer, you will work with a team of engineers and NASA customers to assist in the development of GNC systems. Your responsibilities will include algorithm development for control loops, modeling and simulation of vehicle dynamics, performance analysis through simulations, testing and verification of flight software, mission operations support, and documentation of technical reports and design reviews.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Software, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong foundation in orbital mechanics, classical and modern control theory, and state estimation.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink; experience with C/C++ and/or Python for algorithm implementation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and present findings to stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience with Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) and/or Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) mission simulation and analysis software tools.
- Knowledge of GNC hardware components such as GPS Receivers, Star Trackers, and Reaction Wheels.
- Familiarity with software configuration management systems such as Git, Bitbucket, or SVN.
- Experience with software issue tracking and delegation tools such as Jira, GitLab, or Trello.
