About the Role
As the Program Director, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the Kennedy emergency shelter, which serves up to 50 single households. Your duties will include program development, kitchen supervision, and facility maintenance. You will work closely with the Leadership Team to develop strategies that align with the agency's goals and core values, ensuring best practices are implemented across various programs, including Hypothermia Shelter, Drop-in, and Outreach services.
About You
Required:
- A bachelor's degree in human services or a related field or commensurate experience.
- 4+ years of progressive program and staff management experience.
- Excellent customer service, communication, teambuilding, and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing priorities and make sound judgments.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in human services or a related field.
- Experience leading/supporting programs serving families or individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Experience leading/managing in a residential or shelter environment.

Shelter House, Inc
Shelter House, Inc. is a community-based, non-profit organization serving families experiencing homelessness and victims of domestic violence in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties (Virginia). Our organization was formed in 1981, when several ecumenical groups came together to better serve Fairfax County's low-income population. In 1985, Shelter House's facility was moved to its current location in Falls Church. In 2007, Shelter House was awarded Fairfax County's contract to operate the Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter in Fairfax. In 2010, Shelter House became the first non-profit to operate Artemis House, Fairfax County’s only 24 hour Domestic Violence Shelter.
