Physical Intelligence is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee their hardware prototyping and test lab in San Francisco, CA. The role involves maintaining and scaling the lab infrastructure to support robotics teams in their design and fabrication processes.
About the Role
As a Lab Manager, you will be responsible for turning digital part files into finished parts using various prototyping methods, managing a fleet of prototyping tools, implementing lab safety procedures, maintaining lab inventory, and planning for lab expansion as the hardware team scales.
About You
Required:
- 2+ years of experience as a lab or shop manager with experience mentoring and managing a team of technicians.
- Knowledge and experience running prototyping equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters.
- Hands-on skills in assembling plastic and metal parts, including basic electrical/wiring experience.
- CAD experience, preferably with OnShape or SolidWorks.
- Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and modifying parts for 3D printing processes.
- Experience managing inventory of hardware parts and tools for the lab.
- Experience creating and maintaining documentation on lab processes.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with robotics hardware systems including actuators, sensors, and controllers.
- Proficiency in re-working boards and debugging electrical systems.
- Experience with vendor management and outsourced fabrication or assembly.
