About the Role
As a Lactation Consultant, you will work under the supervision of the Breastfeeding Center and Milk Bank System Manager of Nursing. Your responsibilities will include assessing medical conditions of nursing mothers, providing education and support to breastfeeding families, evaluating outcomes of newborns, and conducting follow-up consultations. You will also be involved in patient education, maintaining professional competency, and performing clerical duties related to patient care.
About You
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS).
- BLS Certification required by completion of core orientation.
- Basic computer skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- 2 years clinical experience.
- Teaching experience.
- Experience working with new mothers and newborns.
- Preferred International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), or required designation within two years of hire.
