Summary
Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer 1- Grid to join their team in Houston, TX. The role involves applying knowledge of protective relaying and control systems for HV and EHV substations while leading an engineering and design team.
About the Role
As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing substation modifications and upgrades, preparing relaying philosophies, guiding junior and senior engineers, and performing analysis and design of various diagrams. You will also coordinate with project managers and clients, conduct independent reviews, and mentor less experienced engineers. The position requires a hybrid work schedule with in-office work three days a week.
About You
Required:
- BSEE with a power systems or controls emphasis from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- 10 or more years of experience in protection/control/telecommunications for high voltage substations.
- PE license.
- Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
- Proficiency with design techniques and tools for technical plans and drawings.
- Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with in-line, bus and equipment protection, and SCADA systems.
- AutoCAD or MicroStation experience.
- Construction and start-up experience.
- Testing or commissioning experience.
