Summary
Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Gas Insulated Substation Engineer 1 to join their Grid Group in Warrenville, IL. The role involves leading the electrical design and project management of gas insulated substation projects.
About the Role
As a Lead GIS Engineer, you will work in a project team environment, serving as a Subject Matter Expert for Gas Insulated Substation projects. Your responsibilities include project conceptualization, work planning, and execution, as well as preparing technical specifications and reports. You will guide and mentor junior engineers, participate in industry standards committees, and may travel to client sites as needed. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two days remote.
About You
Required:
- BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited electrical engineering program.
- 10 or more years of experience in the design of Gas Insulated and Air Insulated Substations.
- Knowledge of physical design techniques and tools for technical plans and 3D models.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Preferred:
- Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Familiar with Bentley Substation, BlueBeam, AutoCAD E or SDS design software.
- Ability to prepare substation grounding calculations and other technical calculations.
- Experience with Transmission Line and protection & controls.
- Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards related to physical substation design.
- FE or PE license.
