designArc Group | architecture + engineering is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Sioux Falls, SD or Brookings, SD. The role involves designing, developing, and implementing mechanical systems for various construction projects.
About the Role
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will lead mechanical design including HVAC and plumbing from schematic design through construction administration. You will collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines, conduct load calculations, prepare detailed engineering drawings, and oversee the installation of mechanical systems on-site. Staying current with industry trends and ensuring compliance with building codes are also key responsibilities.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with mechanical emphasis.
- PE registration in South Dakota or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical design within the construction industry.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
- Experience with HVAC load design software.
- Knowledge of building, energy, mechanical, and plumbing codes.
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and values.
- Ability to demand the highest standard of ethical conduct from self and others.
- Ability to travel as needed for projects.
