Collins Aerospace is seeking a Sr Manager, Mechanical Engineering to join their team in Richardson, TX. The role involves leading a team of Mechanical Engineers to design, develop, test, and deploy mission-critical weapon systems for the U.S. Navy and Air Force.
About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will oversee project leadership throughout the entire lifecycle, including bids, project management, design, requirements capture, integration, verification, and certification. You will provide technical leadership, manage scope, schedule, and budget for mechanical engineering activities, and mentor team members. The position requires collaboration with various departments and a focus on developing mechanical design solutions for airborne command, control, and communications platforms.
About You
Required:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Previous hands-on experience in Electronics Packaging Mechanical Design.
Previous experience in Military electronic communication equipment design and qualification to RTCA DO-160/MIL-STD-810 requirements.
Preferred:
Prior management experience of a technical team and proven experience working in a cross-functional environment.
Practical experience in all phases of Mechanical Engineering product development.
Previous exposure to airframe/air-system modification, integration, and/or airworthiness certification.
Hands-on experience in aircraft resident systems modifications.
Direct experience in military design and development for bid and proposal efforts.
Experience/knowledge with development methods such as Agile.
Familiar with thermal and structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) best practices.
Proven experience interfacing with DoD customers and company senior leadership.
