Scion Staffing is seeking a Legal Secretary to join their team in Oakland, CA. The role involves providing support to a dynamic, fast-paced nonprofit organization, focusing on legal documentation and court procedures.

About the Role

As a Legal Secretary, you will be responsible for maintaining knowledge of multiple jurisdictions' filing and service procedures, preparing pleadings and correspondence, managing files, assisting in trial preparation, and ensuring smooth operations within the legal department. You will also communicate with courts and opposing counsel and assist with library updates.

About You

Required:

5+ years’ experience as a Legal Secretary
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Excel)
Solid knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, processes and filing procedures with various courts
Knowledge of legal calendaring and court rules
Experience preparing TOA’s and TOC’s
Well-organized and detail-oriented
Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in all dealings
Able to work independently and as part of a team
