Summary
Gotham Technology Group is seeking a Logging Platform Migration Specialist (Splunk to Elasticsearch) to lead the discovery and baseline architecture design for a critical migration project within a complex enterprise environment.
About the Role
Lead the discovery and design of Elasticsearch architecture to migrate all Splunk-based logging, monitoring, and analytics workloads. Conduct comprehensive assessment of the current Splunk environment including data sources, custom apps, dashboards, and integrations. Design a scalable, high-performance Elasticsearch architecture with cluster setup, indexing strategies, and Kibana integration. Map Splunk data models, searches, and dashboards to Elasticsearch equivalents. Document baseline architecture and migration plan. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business and compliance requirements. Create detailed migration plans including data migration strategies, application refactoring, and testing protocols. Work closely with IT, security, and business teams to align architecture with organizational goals.
About You
Required:
- Experience with Elasticsearch including cluster management, index optimization, and Kibana visualization development.
- Hands-on experience migrating Splunk environments to Elasticsearch or similar platforms (e.g., ELK Stack).
- Proven track record of conducting discovery and designing architectures for large-scale logging and analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with Splunk architecture including Search Processing Language (SPL), custom app development, and integrations.
- Expertise in Elasticsearch cluster setup, index design, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in translating Splunk SPL queries to Elasticsearch Lucene queries.
- Knowledge of Kibana for dashboard creation and visualization.
- Familiarity with data migration tools (e.g., Logstash, Beats) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for ETL processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven project.
Preferred:
- Experience with regulated data (e.g., claims, customer data).
- Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and infrastructure tools (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes).
- Elastic Certified Engineer or equivalent certification.
- Splunk Certified Architect or similar certification.
