Summary
Western State Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, to provide high-quality patient care in a therapeutic environment.
About the Role
As an LPN, you will provide direct patient care in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital, working as part of an interdisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include administering medications, implementing treatment plans, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. You will also document patient care and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
About You
Required:
- Current Virginia or Compact RN licensure (or eligibility).
- Knowledge of mental illness, treatment modalities, and safe medication administration.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate and supervise nursing staff.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge and application of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care principles.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA).
Preferred:
- Psych Nursing experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Veteran or Veteran Spouse.
