Summary
Raytheon is seeking a Mechanical Fabrication Section Leader to join their Bike Shop team in Tucson, AZ. The role involves leading a group of machine shop technicians and overseeing mechanical fabrication processes.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Fabrication Section Leader, you will supervise approximately 15 machine shop technicians, manage performance and career development, and ensure efficient operations in CNC and manual milling and turning. You will be responsible for project execution, technical oversight, and maintaining section capabilities while promoting a professional workplace culture.
About You
Required:
- A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience, or twelve (12) years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
- Experience with prototype fabrication, production, or machine shop operations.
- Experience leading in a machining, fabrication, or production environment, including responsibility for cost, quality, or/and schedule performance.
- Experience using CREO or other Computer Aided Design (CAD) program.
Preferred:
- A master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Working knowledge of materials including metals, plastics, and composites.
- Familiarity with water jet cutting, CNC milling and turning, welding, composite layup, and elastomer molding.
- Experience creating or reading mechanical drawings, including understanding Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment.
- Experience in a direct customer-facing role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Active DoD clearance: Secret or higher.
