Inside Higher Ed is seeking a Managing Director Clean Energy Extension - Extension Associate/Full Professor to join their team at UMass Amherst. The role involves overseeing the Clean Energy Extension, managing staff, and developing applied research and outreach activities in clean energy.
About the Role
As the Managing Director, you will represent the Clean Energy Extension (CEE) to various stakeholders, develop and maintain research and outreach programs, supervise staff, and teach courses related to clean energy. You will also be responsible for securing funding and enhancing the financial stability of CEE while fostering collaborations across campus and with external partners.
About You
Required:
- Graduate degree in a field related to clean energy (e.g., renewable energy, engineering, resource economics, public policy, regional planning, sustainability, energy justice).
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in the clean energy field conducting research, consulting, engineering, project development, finance, policy development, or similar contributions.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in supervising and managing staff in a collaborative environment.
- Excellence in written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- A Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a relevant field.
- Experience serving as the director for a center or program.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching at a university level.
- Familiarity with clean energy technologies and current state and federal energy policy.
Benefits
- 12-month calendar year appointment.
- Funding split between faculty responsibilities and director responsibilities, with a commitment for three years.
