NAVWAR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to serve in the Navy Primary Standards Laboratory (NPSL) of Fleet Readiness Center Southwest in San Diego, CA. The role involves acting as a versatile and innovative physical metrology and mechanical engineering professional.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will adapt standard methods to address complex system requirements, perform statistical analysis and uncertainty calculations for Primary Measurement Systems (PMS), conduct maintenance and modernization of PMS, manage calibration standards, develop and troubleshoot software related to PMS, and provide expert technical decisions for metrology challenges.
About You
Required:
U.S. Citizenship.
Professional engineering degree or equivalent experience.
At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
Understanding of metrology and calibration.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Solid technical background in mechanical systems.
Preferred:
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
Experience in prioritizing and executing workload tasks effectively.
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
