Lila Sciences is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join their Advanced Engineering team for the summer in Cambridge, MA. The role involves gaining hands-on experience designing components for bench-scale robotics, mechanical systems, and automation.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with scientific and engineering teams to develop concepts for instruments and lab automation hardware. Your responsibilities will include using SolidWorks for CAD design, building and testing prototypes, and working cross-functionally to integrate mechanical solutions into the AISF platform. You will also evaluate designs, root cause hardware failures, and document your work for clarity and future reference.
About You
Required:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
Hands-on experience with SolidWorks CAD (Parts and Assemblies) or similar parametric 3D CAD software.
Preferred:
Familiarity with GD&T and designing parts for specific fabrication methods (milling, lathing, sheet metal, 3D printing).
Previous internship or co-op experience in industrial automation, lab automation, or R&D.
Exposure to robotics, industrial controls, or electrical engineering.
Basic familiarity with automation software, robotics programming, or industrial electronics.
