About the Role
As a Medical Legal Death Investigator, you will gather information at scenes, examine bodies for evidence, interview relatives and witnesses, collect bodily fluid specimens, prepare detailed investigation reports, and coordinate the removal of bodies. You will also engage with families, medical personnel, and law enforcement, assist in postmortem examinations, and represent the office before the media.
About You
Required:
- Five years of medical investigative or similar investigation experience, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or a related field.
Preferred:
- Training and experience in paramedicine (EMT or paramedic) or nursing.
- Familiarity with basic anatomy, common medical conditions, and general medical terminology.
- Effective communication with diverse organizations and individuals.
- Ability to independently analyze and prioritize multiple complex tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Familiarity with modern office procedures and computer technology.
- Oregon Medicolegal Death Investigator (OMLDI) Training Certification.
- American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) Basic Certification.
