Summary
Kia America is seeking a National Manager, Forensic Engineering & Investigation to join their team in Irvine, CA. The role involves leading the Forensic Engineering & Investigation team to investigate potential safety issues on Kia products.
About the Role
As the National Manager, you will oversee vehicle, system, and component-level safety evaluations, support legal and customer care departments in assessing vehicle performance related to claims, and develop responses to NHTSA investigations. You will lead investigations into safety-related issues, manage technical reviews for NHTSA inquiries, and supervise technical support for legal claims. Additionally, you will ensure the ongoing development of the FEI team's knowledge and skills.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or automotive technology, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical positions within the automotive industry.
- Minimum of 5 years of automotive industry experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and Motor Vehicle Safety Act requirements.
Preferred:
- Ability to interpret Event Data Recorder and Airbag Control Unit records.
- Strong technical knowledge of active and passive safety systems, powertrains, and accident vehicle kinematics.
- Leadership skills to support team growth and development.
