Summary
Albuquerque Public Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant - Special Ed to join their team at North Star Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year.
About the Role
As an Educational Assistant - Special Ed, you will assist certified staff in delivering the instructional program. Your responsibilities will include working with individuals and small groups to reinforce material, serving as a model for students' language and behavior, preparing resource materials, operating support equipment, maintaining classroom records, and monitoring student activities in various settings. You will also support non-instructional duties, participate in teacher-parent conferences, reinforce IEP goals, train students in self-help skills, and assist with custodial skills.
About You
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must meet NCLB highly qualified requirements: 48 college credit hours or pass the Paraprofessional Test.
Preferred:
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of APS community and computer systems.
- Experience with educational equipment.
