Summary
Good Shepherd Services is seeking a Parent Advocate for the Bronx Parent Support Program to educate and support families of juvenile probationers and detainees.
About the Role
As a Parent Advocate, you will provide peer mentorship, guidance, and referral services for parents and families. You will work closely with probation officers and case managers to engage families in service planning, aiming to increase family engagement throughout the probation process. Your responsibilities include meeting with parents and youth, participating in Individual Action Plans, providing support during court appearances, and facilitating group-based parent support services.
About You
Required:
- High school Diploma/GED required.
- Minimum of one year’s experience in child welfare or related systems.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Good basic knowledge of resources for families in Brooklyn.
- Personal experience with the probation system and/or juvenile justice system.
