About the Role
As a Peer Support Specialist, you will support clients in building a network of resources for recovery, encourage independent decision-making, mentor clients by role-modeling positive coping strategies, assist individuals in recognizing and managing triggers, advocate for client rights, and transport clients as needed for services.
About You
Required:
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current or past life experience as a primary consumer of mental health services.
- Oral and written communication skills using the English language.
- A valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.
- Basic personal computer skills for data entry and retrieval.
Preferred:
- Experience with Microsoft Office software.
- Kansas certification as a Peer Specialist (CPS) or willingness to obtain certification within one year.

Founded in 1956, Pawnee Mental Health is a private, not-for-profit Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). Pawnee provides a full range of mental health, substance use recovery, and crisis services for residents of 10 north central Kansas counties.
