Summary
Fort Valley State University is seeking a Police Major to assist the Chief of Police in administering, directing, and coordinating the Patrol, Support Services, and Investigative Operations activities of the Campus Police Department in Fort Valley, GA.
About the Role
As a Police Major, you will supervise and coordinate the activities of various sections within the Campus Police Department, conduct investigations and inspections, review complaints, oversee equipment acquisition, develop crime prevention programs, and act as a liaison with other departments. You will also take command during emergencies and represent the Chief of Police in media interactions.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or a related field.
- Ten years of police experience, with five years at the level of Lieutenant or above.
- General Instructor Certification or ability to obtain it from Georgia P.O.S.T.
- Valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia.
Preferred:
- Experience in developing educational and awareness programs related to crime prevention.
- Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia.
