Summary
Outreach: Building Healthy Lives is seeking a part-time Primary Counselor for their Outpatient Program located in Brentwood, NY. The role involves delivering direct clinical services in a substance abuse treatment setting as part of the State Opioid Response initiative.
About the Role
As a Primary Counselor, you will facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, manage a caseload from entry to discharge, provide backup coverage for clinical staff, and participate in quality improvement programs. You will work closely with the Site Director and Program Coordinator to address program issues and improve service delivery.
About You
Required:
- Advanced degree required; LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or higher preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience with substance abuse disorders.
- 1-2 years of experience working with clients with co-occurring and mental health problems.
- Commitment to providing quality services and outcome-driven performance measures.
Preferred:
- Limited permit or clinical master’s level candidate with relevant experience will be considered.
- 1-2 years of experience working in an OASAS funded facility.
- Experience working with individuals who are severely and persistently mentally ill.
- Excellent organizational management skills with the ability to coach staff and manage high-performance clinicians.
- Strong networking and public relations skills.
- Experience with AVATAR electronic health records.
- Bilingual Spanish.
