Summary
Waymo is seeking a Principal Software Engineer, ML Systems to join their team in Mountain View, CA. The role involves leading the development of large-scale machine learning systems that power the Waymo Driver.
About the Role
As a Principal Software Engineer, ML Systems, you will work closely with Perception engineers to understand ML development workflows and systems. You will drive multi-year roadmaps for Perception model systems, collaborate with infrastructure teams, and ensure optimal performance for large-scale model development.
About You
Required:
- 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with extensive experience in a technical leadership role.
- Track record of designing and building large-scale systems supporting model development (data, training, inference).
- Strong communication skills and organizational awareness.
Preferred:
- Experience in driving cross-org efforts in transitioning large systems through major evolutions.
- Familiarity with modern ML data, training, and inference systems for large models.
- Experience in budget management supporting workflows for multiple model developers.
