About the Role
As a Prior Authorization Specialist, you will verify patient insurance eligibility, identify medical necessity determinations, obtain authorizations from payers, and provide feedback on authorization processes. You will also document results, complete assigned work queues, and assist with urgent or walk-in visit authorizations while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
About You
Required:
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
- 1-3 years related work experience required.
- Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS coding, and ICD-9/ICD-10.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access.
Preferred:
- 3+ years of related experience; two or more years in Financial Clearance activities.
- Knowledge of payer policies for medical necessity/authorization requirements.
- Prior experience working with Craneware software.
