Summary
WSP in the U.S. is seeking a Project Architectural Historian to join their team in Detroit, MI. The role involves conducting architectural history work related to cultural resource management and producing technical reports.
About the Role
As a Project Architectural Historian, you will be responsible for maintaining quality control standards, assisting in research and documentation of historic resources, and complying with safety guidelines during surveys. You will utilize National Park Service guidance to evaluate the significance of resources and perform additional responsibilities as needed.
About You
Required:
- BA required, MA/MHP preferred in Historic Architecture, Historic Preservation, History, or related degree.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience working as an historian, architectural historian, or similar role.
- Meet the Secretary of the Interior Standards (36 CFR 61) in Historic Preservation and/or History.
- Good organizational skills and familiarity with standard office computer applications.
- Excellent writing skills with a writing sample required.
- Skills in conducting above-ground historic architectural surveys and preparing architectural reports.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and pass a background check.
Preferred:
- A minimum of two years of demonstrable experience in Cultural Resource Management.
- Technical skills in areas such as American architecture, historic bridges, cultural landscapes, or GIS.
