NAVWAR is seeking a Recreation Assistant (Fitness) to join their team at Naval Station Great Lakes in Great Lakes, IL. The role involves providing support in the operation of recreation activities and ensuring proper usage of the facility.
About the Role
As a Recreation Assistant (Fitness), you will be responsible for customer service, administrative support, planning and publicizing activities, overseeing retail sales, and evaluating fitness programs. You will also monitor patrons and assist in selecting fitness and aquatics activities based on participant interests.
About You
Required:
- Knowledge of MWR policies, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 45 pounds unassisted.
- Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Must have or be able to obtain Automated External Defibrillator Certification, Blood-borne Pathogen Certification, and Navy Basic Fitness Certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic for cash handling and report preparation.
- Skill in Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
