Summary
SF Metalworks is seeking an Estimator / Drafter to join their team in Colusa, CA. The role involves supporting the fabrication team by translating complex design documents into accurate budgets and precise fabrication details.
About the Role
As an Estimator / Drafter, you will analyze architectural and structural plans to develop accurate material takeoffs and labor estimates. You will produce clear, build-ready 2D and 3D shop drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, etc. Collaborate with management and the shop team to ensure constructability and design intent. Maintain clear documentation for change orders and scope revisions. Prepare and submit timely quotes for high-end residential and commercial projects. Organize and manage drawing sets and estimate logs for internal tracking.
About You
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in architectural metal fabrication, high-end residential construction, marine, aerospace, or a related precision-focused field.
- Expertise in CAD software: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino (or equivalent).
- Deep understanding of ornamental and structural metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and specifications.
- Strong math, geometry, and mechanical aptitude.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with welding processes, material grades, and shop standards.
