MRO is seeking a ROI Medical Records Specialist to join their team in Staten Island, NY. The role involves providing support for the Release of Information (ROI) requests for patient medical records.
About the Role
As a ROI Medical Records Specialist, you will be responsible for determining records to be released in accordance with HIPAA guidelines, answering phone calls regarding ROI issues, responding to walk-in customers, logging medical record requests, scanning records into the ROI On-Line database, and complying with site facility policies. You will also handle cash payments for requests at specified sites and perform other duties as assigned.
About You
Required:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- One or more years experience entering data into computer systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Prior work experience in Release of Information in a physician’s office or HIM Department.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
Benefits

- Full-time schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.
