City of North Canton is seeking a School Crossing Guard to ensure the safe passage of children to and from school at designated crossing locations.
About the Role
As a School Crossing Guard, you will be responsible for directing pedestrian and vehicular traffic, assisting children and pedestrians in safely crossing streets, monitoring traffic flow, reporting violations, and providing assistance to children, parents, and school staff. You will maintain a professional demeanor while on duty and coordinate with school administrators and local authorities as necessary.
About You
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Good physical condition to stand and walk for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Awareness of traffic laws and basic safety principles.
Preferred:
- Prior experience as a crossing guard or in a related field.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Familiarity with local traffic patterns and school zones.
