Hilde B Foundation is seeking a Security & Privacy Lead (Volunteer – High-Stakes Abuse-Logging) to join their team remotely. The role involves designing and maintaining the app’s data protection infrastructure and ethical risk posture for a secure, mobile-first website for survivors of domestic violence.
About the Role
As a Security & Privacy Lead, you will define and implement end-to-end encryption strategies for user-generated data, build or advise on access control, identity protection, and stealth modes, ensure secure integration with Firebase/Firestore, develop secure panic/escape flows, conduct basic threat modeling, and guide ethical storage, logging, and deletion practices. You will work closely with frontend/backend engineers, legal advisor, and project lead.
About You
Required:
Experience with security architecture in mobile or web apps.
Familiarity with Firebase security rules, user authentication, and encrypted data workflows.
Sensitivity to survivor risk contexts.
Strong ethical awareness of how security failures could endanger users.
Preferred:
Experience with domestic violence tech, activist toolkits, or crisis-response apps.
Familiarity with secure erase tools, VPN-based access strategies, or hidden app access.
Background in legal tech or secure document generation.
