Summary
Hilde B Foundation is seeking a Security & Privacy Lead (Volunteer – High-Stakes Abuse-Logging) to join their team remotely. The role involves designing and maintaining the app’s data protection infrastructure and ethical risk posture for a secure, mobile-first website for survivors of domestic violence.
About the Role
As a Security & Privacy Lead, you will define and implement end-to-end encryption strategies for user-generated data, build or advise on access control, identity protection, and stealth modes, ensure secure integration with Firebase/Firestore, develop secure panic/escape flows, conduct basic threat modeling, and guide ethical storage, logging, and deletion practices. You will work closely with frontend/backend engineers, legal advisor, and project lead.
About You
Required:
- Experience with security architecture in mobile or web apps.
- Familiarity with Firebase security rules, user authentication, and encrypted data workflows.
- Sensitivity to survivor risk contexts.
- Strong ethical awareness of how security failures could endanger users.
Preferred:
- Experience with domestic violence tech, activist toolkits, or crisis-response apps.
- Familiarity with secure erase tools, VPN-based access strategies, or hidden app access.
- Background in legal tech or secure document generation.
