About the Role
As a Senior Counsel - General Banking, you will be responsible for offering legal support on general banking and regulatory matters, including branch operations, deposit accounts, payments, and treasury functions. You will conduct legal research, advise on applicable laws and regulations, and ensure compliance with federal and state banking laws. Additionally, you will collaborate with risk, compliance, and information security teams to manage legal and operational risks, and provide guidance on product development initiatives and emerging technologies.
About You
Required:
- Minimum of 10 - 15 years’ experience practicing law full-time in a legal department of a medium or large financial institution, or with a major law firm serving financial institutions.
- Admitted to practice, and in good standing with the bar of one of the states in the footprint, preferably Illinois, Indiana, or Minnesota.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
Preferred:
- Strong understanding of federal and state banking laws and regulations.
- Experience providing day-to-day support on branch operations, deposit services, and treasury matters.
- Familiarity with privacy laws and data protection requirements, including GLBA and CCPA.
- Prior experience advising on emerging technology initiatives in financial services.
