About the Role
As a Senior Counsel, you will be responsible for offering legal support for Treasury Management, Merchant Services, and Financial Institution Group teams. Your duties will include conducting legal research, advising on applicable laws and regulations, drafting and negotiating agreements, and providing legal guidance for product development initiatives. You will also monitor emerging legal and regulatory developments and coordinate various legal bank projects.
About You
Required:
- Minimum of 10 - 15 years’ experience practicing law full-time in a legal department of a medium or large financial institution, or with a major law firm serving financial institutions.
- Admitted to practice, and in good standing with the bar of one of the states in our footprint, preferably Illinois, Indiana, or Minnesota.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to apply sound legal analysis and practical business judgment to legal matters.
Preferred:
- Strong understanding of applicable federal and state banking laws and regulations related to commercial banking, treasury management, and payment services.
- Experience reviewing, analyzing and drafting complex agreements with commercial clients and payment processors.
- Familiarity with card brand rules, RTP, NACHA and other evolving payment systems.
- Experience advising on API-based solutions.
