Summary
HDR is seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer/ FERC Independent Consultant to join their Hydropower Practice in multiple locations across the United States. The role involves performing inspections and engineering assessments for dams and hydraulic structures, as well as leading design projects related to hydropower and dam safety.
About the Role
As a Senior Dam Safety Engineer/ FERC Independent Consultant, you will be responsible for conducting engineering analyses, evaluations, and designs for hydropower and dam safety projects. Your duties will include performing inspections, preparing contract documents, and working with multi-disciplinary teams. You will also provide oversight and mentorship to staff and may be required to travel for inspections and meetings.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 10 years related experience
- A minimum of 5 years project management experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- MS Office and MS Project experience
- Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience
- Experience with dams and water conveyances associated with hydropower projects
- Familiarity with FERC’s Part 12 Dam Safety Program
- Experience working in a multi-discipline environment
- Knowledge of the FERC regulatory process
- Approved FERC Independent Consultant or ability to demonstrate within 1-2 years
- Familiarity with finite element software for structural analyses
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
