Code and Theory is seeking a Senior Engineer (Back-end, Machine) to join their team in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The role involves leading the technical direction of projects and building an AI-native software ecosystem for marketing workflows.
About the Role
As a Senior Engineer, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to design and build robust backend services using Python and interactive frontend interfaces with frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular. You will also architect data processing pipelines and maintain integrations with large language models (LLMs). Your responsibilities include performing code reviews, mentoring developers, and ensuring system performance and scalability.
About You
Required:
- 4+ years of total software development experience.
- Expert proficiency in Python for backend development (FastAPI, Flask, or Django).
- Strong experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular).
- Proven experience building applications on top of LLMs and implementing RAG patterns.
- Deep experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and WebSockets.
- Mastery of Git, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and automated testing frameworks.
- Experience with both relational databases (PostgreSQL) and Vector databases.
Preferred:
- Experience with Next.js and deploying to platforms like Vercel or AWS Amplify.
- Familiarity with Data Visualization libraries (D3.js, Three.js, or Highcharts).
- Experience fine-tuning LLMs or working with open-source models.
- Cloud certification (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Expert understanding of web accessibility (WCAG) and animation performance.
