Summary
HDR is seeking a Senior Laboratory Planner to join their team in San Diego, CA. The role involves coordinating all aspects of laboratory planning and design on projects, analyzing complex program information, and developing strong laboratory design concepts.
About the Role
As a Senior Laboratory Planner, you will take responsibility for leading lab planning efforts, presenting planning and programming information to clients, and acting as a client advocate within design teams. You will create content to showcase HDR's expertise, develop laboratory space designs, coordinate room design criteria, and provide leadership within the Education and Science Planning Group.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field.
- A minimum of 12 years related experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in the construction of buildings.
- Understanding of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, prints, drawings and models.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
Preferred:
- Exposure to full range of Laboratory Planning and Design.
- Benchmarking studies experience.
- Able to lead project planning team.
- Experience interviewing client/users/owners.
- Strong analytical skills and experience gathering information and interfacing with equipment vendors.
- LEED AP preferred.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong graphic and oral presentation capabilities.
- Enthusiasm for working within a team environment.
- Ability to mentor and train Laboratory Planners.
- Software Skills (Revit, Excel, Word, PowerPoint required, dRofus and Rhino).
