WSP in the U.S. is seeking a Senior P&C Field Services Technician to join their team for project locations in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. The role involves providing advanced technical support in electrical testing and commissioning for utility substations and power systems.
About the Role
As a Senior P&C Field Services Technician, you will deliver advanced technical support across environmental, construction, and infrastructure-related field activities. Your responsibilities will include performing testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems, leading inspections, data collection, and troubleshooting, as well as providing technical direction to junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
About You
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including experience in medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
- Demonstrable expertise on transmission, generation, or distribution relays and protective schemes.
- Proven technical skills related to protective relays including relay calibration and testing.
- Experience with electrical field testing standards such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA.
- Strong understanding of technical software for testing purposes.
- Ability to identify and respond to field challenges and equipment malfunctions.
- Proficient in preparing field logs, sketches, and digital reports.
- Physical stamina to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness and physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds individually, and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be willing to travel (up to 80%).
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Technology degree.
- Experience in testing and troubleshooting electromechanical relays.
- Experience in testing and commissioning electrical equipment on high voltage substations.
- Current OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
