Summary
POWER Engineers is seeking a Senior P&C Field Technician to join their team in Amarillo, TX. The role involves testing and commissioning Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
About the Role
As a Senior P&C Field Technician, you will perform on-site hands-on protective relay testing, support project leads, conduct Job Hazard Analysis, document test results, and manage clerical responsibilities. You will work with various relay test sets and ensure compliance with electrical testing standards.
About You
Required:
- 5-10 years of professional experience in the electrical testing industry.
- Expertise in transmission, generation, and distribution relays and protective schemes.
- Technical skills related to protective relays including relay calibration and testing.
- Experience with Electrical Field Testing standards such as NETA, IEEE, NFPA.
- Knowledge of testing electrical distribution and transmission projects with voltage levels from 15 kV to 500 kV.
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of computer systems and relay software.
- Ability to meet minimum insurability standards based on a Motor Vehicle Report.
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests and a seven-year background check.
- Willingness to travel up to 80%.
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting electromechanical relays.
- Experience in testing IEC 61850 protocol.
